From Galain President Rick Wimberly’s Blog “Alerts and Notifications: Best Practices For Emergency Notification Programs”
The bill that would take the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS) and make it part of national law has moved forward again. The House Homeland Security Committee recently approved it a few days after it was approved by a Homeland Security Sub-Committee.
The Integrated Public Alert and Warning System Modernization Act of 2013 provides direction for the program, originally created by Presidential Executive Order. As reported earlier, it creates an IPAWS Modernization Advisory Committee made up of local, state, federal, and industry representatives.
The bill now goes to the full House for consideration, then to the Senate if approved.
